Binghamton Consulting Classes

At Binghamton, there are a variety of ways to improve data analysis and manipulation skills:

Learn Excel and PowerPoint.

SCM 360: Spreadsheet Modeling and Decision Making

Excel and Powerpoint are both heavily used by consultants in ways that dive deeper than how both are commonly used in case competitions. Understanding how to get around quickly and how to let Excel do the heavy lifting for you is a must, especially as a more junior member of the team. It’s easy to tell who knows how to use PowerPoint effectively and who doesn’t, but it’s not nearly as time-consuming as the difference between knowing Excel and not. SCM 360 can help you build upon the spreadsheet modeling skills taught in CQS 111.

Improve general analytical skills.

Data analysis is a way for consultants to leverage data to support recommendations, strategies for clients, and data-driven decision-making. Data manipulation is a method for consultants to clean and reorganize data before analyzing.
